For the month of December 2012, Archana of The Mad Scientist's Kitchen suggested we make cauldron cakes from the Harry Potter Series. The original recipe was from Pastry Affair and we had the challenge of converting the recipe to eggless. After facing so many challenges in the past year, the members didn't have any problem with the devil's food cupcake. We also experimented with the filling. All the cakes have come out wonderful, soft and spongy but all of us had a common problem. Making the chocolate handle. They were so delicate, we had a very hard time making it stick to the cake. I think the best candle was done by Chitra, who made it so artful with scrolls. Kudos to you Chitra. Any way we made a cake which our kids enjoyed as it screamed chocolate. Kids would never say no to chocolate in any form. So the cakes had or did not have handles, they came out delicious. I would like to thank Archan for this wonderful suggestion. Here are our experiments with the cake. Go through them and enjoy!!
